And why should I care?
Good questions. First, here’s why you should care.
Unlike getting website updates or ezines by email, RSS feeds give you absolute, 100% complete control over the situation.
You don’t have to reveal your email address. If you want to stop receiving content, you don’t have to request to be “taken off the list.”
One click, and poof… the subscription is gone.
Plus, since there’s no email address involved, there’s no way a publisher can sell, rent or give away the means to contact you.
That’s right… no more spam, viruses, phishing, or identity theft. And best of all, no reason to put yourself at the mercy of the publisher’s intentions.
You won’t need to suffer through the legalese in the privacy policy (if there is one) looking for loopholes that will send you deeper into inbox hell. No more setting up dummy Hotmail accounts "just in case."
Again, if you don’t like the content, you can make it disappear as fast as you can change a TV channel. With just one click.
Pretty cool, huh?

Yes, it's about to get nasty. Apple with the iPad and Amazon with the Kindle. Sure the iPad does more, but is it necessary and does the public crave what the iPad offers. Time will tell, but the real story is the content war.
Last Christmas (2009), Amazon e-book sales overtook print for the first time ever. That's right, Amazon sold more e-books than printed books and much of those sales took place on Christmas day.

Almost daily we learn about another radio station biting the dust. Mostly AM stations, but a few FMers get caught in the no audience, no cash crunch.
In the last few days two historically important stations died. What was the original radio station that went on-air in 1919 as XWA (experimental wireless apparatus), owned by the Canadian Marconi Company went off air Friday January 29th, 2010. XWA became CFCF AM600 was a powerhouse in Montreal, but now deemed forever unprofitable. In later years the frequency of the station became AM940.
The other station, also owned by Chorus Entertainment is CINF AM690. Originally the call letters were CKVL and the station opened in 1946.

Wow, talk about hype. I decided to let things calm down a bit before commenting on the new Apple iPad.
Now I must admit, I am for any computer equipment that enhances reading. That's why I own a Sony eReader (but it could just as well have been a Kindle, or any of the other e-readers). So I was waiting with great expectations for the new Apple iPad.
It's neat, but a ground-breaker? I think not. There are all kinds of uses for a tablet, e-reader or whatever they are being called, but for the moment I am going to stick with the general design.

Today I took a day off. A day off from blogging, the computer, tour buses and Niagara Falls. I drove up to Toronto and spent about 4 hours wandering every corner of the Congress Centre for the Toronto winter Recreational Vehicle Show.
This was the usual BIG "inside in the winter" RV show. If there's a recession, it was hard to tell. Although I suspect that there were fewer buyers and more lurkers.
